Five University Library faculty presented at professional conferences in June. As a component of both scholarship and service expectations of faculty, presenting at professional conferences is a way to share research, case studies, and best practices. Attending professional conferences is important for learning about cutting-edge research, expanding one’s knowledge, speaking with book publishers and library service providers, and networking with colleagues at other institutions. Furthermore, Library faculty represent Regent University wherever they go.

Dorothy Hargett spoke at the State University of New York Libraries (SUNYLA) Conference in Purchase, NY on the topic of leadership: “Stand Up and Lead or Sit Down.” Georgi Bordner and Sandy Yaegle co-presented at the Association of Christian Librarians (ACL) Conference in Jefferson City, TN on the topic of the recent migration to electronic dissertations and theses: “Blazing a Trail from Print to Electronic Theses: It Takes Teamwork.” Sara Baron and Melody Diehl Detar co-presented at the American Theological Library Association (ATLA) Conference in Denver, CO on the development of online training and marketing products: “Marketing Library Services & Training Library Users with Five Star Video Products.” Dean Baron also served on a panel titled “Other Duties as Assigned: Library Directors and Balancing the Other Duties of an All-Purpose Administrator.”

Congratulations to our colleagues for contributing to national conversations about library services in higher education.
