Visiting scholar researches John Wimber in Library’s Special Collections

Written by Robert Sivigny, Special Collections Librarian

With a dissertation to write on the distinctiveness of John Wimber’s signs and wonders theology, Dr. Joseph Zichterman knew he had to use Regent University Library’s John Wimber Collection to complete his work. The Wimber Collection, donated by the Wimber family for the purpose of scholarly research, is filled with articles by and about Vineyard founder and pastor, John Wimber, who died in 1997.

Dr. Zichterman is a professor of Biblical studies at Multnomah University in Portland, Oregon, and is completing his second doctorate degree. About his visit to Regent Library, he remarked, “the Special Collections at Regent are an outstanding aid for scholars to tap into primary resources. The staff went above and beyond the call of duty to assist me in my research regarding the personal collection of John Wimber.” Dr. Zichterman also singled out for special thanks Library volunteer Fran McGowan and the InterLibrary Loan department for their assistance with scanning documents.

The Library prays God’s blessing on Dr. Zichterman as he completes his dissertation and hopes that his work will be an important contribution to scholarship about this significant Church leader of the late twentieth century.
