Head of Access Services Dorothy Hargett speaks at University Chapel

On June 19, Dorothy Hargett, the Library’s Head of Access Services, was the featured speaker at University Chapel. Dorothy took as the foundation of her talk, three verses from The Lamentations of Jeremiah:

22 It is of the Lord’s mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not.
23 They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.
24 The Lord is my portion, saith my soul; therefore will I hope in him.

—Lamentations 3:22-24

Dorothy spoke about the role God has played in her and her family’s life over the years, from His call to her husband Jerry to move to Virginia Beach to attend CBN University in 1988, to her own miraculous healing over the past year from severe lymphedema in her legs.

Dorothy also told the Regent community about how the evidence of God’s work is all around us, but that lacking trust in His faithfulness, we often want to know how the journey will end before we even begin! Without total trust in the Lord, we go off listen to others (or sometimes even the devil), when all we need do is to wait patiently and hear God’s voice, as He hears ours.

Above all, Dorothy emphasized that one must desire a personal relationship with Christ more than anything else in the world: “And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart” (Jeremiah 29:13).

The Library faculty and staff are proud of Dorothy and thank her for sharing some of the wisdom she has acquired in the course of her walk with God.

Dorothy’s full Chapel talk may be found in the Campus Ministries archives, located inside the Regent Portal.
