Every summer the American Library Association (ALA) holds its annual conference. This year’s conference in Chicago, Illinois drew over 25,000 librarians for all types of libraries (academic, public, special, school) from all over the world. Two library faculty, Dean Sara Baron and Assistant Librarian, Leanne Hillery, were selected to present poster sessions during the five day conference in July. On July 11, Leanne presented her poster entitled “Faculty Assessment of Library Instruction: Are Your Instruction Session Really Enhancing Student Scholarship?” Dean Baron’s poster “We the People: Library Leadership in Constitution Day Celebrations” was presented during a session on July 12. During the conference, Sara and Leanne also attended meetings of organizational committees of which they are both members. Leanne also volunteered in the American Library Association-Allied Professional Association information booth.
The ALA is the foremost professional organization for librarians. It is also the accrediting body of all information and library studies programs in American universities. Both Sara and Leanne are honored by their selection to present at such an important conference. We are overjoyed to have them represent the library and Regent University at this internationally known event.
