Web 2.0 in the Classroom

Written by Jon Ritterbush, Associate Librarian

Looking for ways to foster greater interaction and collaboration in your classes? Web 2.0 technologies such as social bookmarking, blogs and wikis have introduced new venues for online instruction. Educators now have their own social networking websites from which they can exchange materials and methodologies.

Classroom20.com is a social network of over 14,000 educators. Participants can exchange bookmarks, read and post software or website reviews, and participate in a myriad of online forums by subject discipline or technology. Although many of the participants at Classroom20.com are K-12 educators, college-level instructors can discover new methods for using Web 2.0 in their own classes.  A similar, though smaller social network of college and university instructors has been started at college2.ning.com.
