Library Orientation Workshops for New Students

On Thursday, January 23, the reference librarians will offer orientation workshops for new students (and anyone else who still feels like a new student).

At 12:00 p.m. in the Library Conference Room (located inside Library Administration), we will introduce you to the reference librarians to whom you can turn whenever you need help with your research. In addition to demonstrating some of the most important databases, we will tour the beautiful Library building. Bring a lunch, and we’ll provide the cookies.

At 6:00 p.m., we will hold another orientation for online students via Google Hangouts. Sorry, no cookies, but you will get to meet the librarians and learn some simple and effective techniques for using the electronic resources on the Library website. Here is the Library’s permanent Link for all Google Hangouts events: https:plus.google.comhangouts_eventc0lnc83s5ok7tecuqdcnjg0mcno?authuser=0&eid=100028809078157626561&hl=en.

It’s only the third week of the semesters, but assignments and papers are just around the corner. Take this convenient opportunity to learn some basic research skills that will help you find best books and articles for your projects.

Research – No anchovies!

This fall, the reference librarians will offer a series of informal workshops about basic resources on the Library website that EVERYONE should know about. The purpose of these workshops is to give participants easy-to-use techniques that can be put into practice immediately.

Our first workshop will be on Thursday, September 5 at 12:00 in the Library Conference Room, located in Library Administration (LIB 119). Come, enjoy a pizza lunch on us, and find out how to use the Library resources more effectively.

RSVP is not required but encouraged. To sign up, simply join the Library Facebook Group. You can then click on the events tab and choose “going” or “maybe” for any of our events that interest you.
